George Zimmerman, born October 5, 1983, in Manassas Virginia. In February 6, 2012 George Zimmerman shot unarmed Treyvon Martin, who was 17 years old in Sanford Florida. The altercation commenced in a gated community in which Treyvon Martin was visiting his father's fiancé. Treyvon was walking back from a local convenience store in which George Zimmerman witnessed Treyvon. George Zimmerman was formerly elected as neighborhood watch in his community and reported several suspicious suspects in the neighborhood. In result he helped to catch home theft perpetrators. Zimmerman contacted the police when he saw Treyvon walking back to his home in Twin Lakes community. Zimmerman reported to be following Treyvon in his car which resulted in Treyvon running away. Treyvon evaded Zimmerman, but moments later Zimmerman reappeared. Treyvon was in contact with his friend telling her that someone was following him, the friend listened to the call as Zimmerman stepped outside his car and came in contact with Treyvon. Treyvon was asking Zimmerman why he was following him and to leave him alone. Treyvon dropped his phone and reportedly got in a physical altercation with Zimmerman. Treyvon was reported by a neighbor calling 911 that he was on top of an older man throwing punches and was calling for help. Zimmerman shot Treyvon at 7:16 and Zimmerman was reported walking away from the teenager back to his car.
Zimmerman was held for investigation later that night, 5 hours later he was released. There was not enough evidence to support Treyvon acting in self defense against Zimmerman.
